The Department of English Language and Literature is one of the largest at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Our four-year programme spans the study of language, theoretical and applied linguistics, British, US, and Anglophone literatures and cultures from the Renaissance to the present day. Our teaching and research staff bring their expertise in courses that cover a wide range of topics incorporating innovative perspectives on the study of language, history, politics, drama, visual culture, cultural and critical theory. The Department has numerous exchange programmes with a range of universities across Europe. Our graduates are employable and active in diverse fields, including education, translation, the creative industries, the public and the third sector. We are located at the university campus of the Zographou area, near the city centre, in the School of Philosophy.
